Letita Moore Scholarship

The Letitia Moore Charitable Trust Scholarship was established by the York Art Association in 2009 from a bequest by the late artist and York Art Association member, Letitia Moore. The scholarship honors Moore’s wish to provide tuition scholarships to deserving art and/or art history students.      

The Letitia Moore Charitable Trust Scholarship is available to any student who is currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, is majoring in art or art history and has completed his or her first year of study with a grade point average of 3.0 or greater.

Eligibility

A student must
(i) be enrolled in an accredited college or university,
(ii) be majoring in art or art history, and
(iii) have completed his or her first year of study with a grade point average of at least 3.0 or greater.

YAA Trustees, their families or designees who make candidate recommendations are not eligible to participate in this program.

How To Apply

Applicants must submit:

  • a letter application  – The letter should describe the applicant’s educational and career goals, and any information which shows the applicant is a deserving student. 
  • The letter should also identify the names and telephone numbers of two or three references familiar with the applicant’s ability and aspirations.
  • provide proof of their eligibility   –  Proof of eligibility must come in the form of an official transcript from the college or university which shows that the applicant is enrolled beyond the first year of study with a major in art or art history.
    • has attained a grade point average of at least 3.0 the prior year of study.

      Please Note: If the institution does not use a GPA grading system a letter indicating the students good standing from the department chair or advisor may be substituted

Application Deadline:

  • The application deadline is September 1st of the current scholarship year. 
  • A decision will be made within 60 days thereafter.
  • Scholarship awards will be paid directly to the college or university and are for tuition only. 
  • The scholarship amount will be determined by the YAA Executive and Scholarship Committees, at their discretion.

2017 Scholarship Recipients

The York Art Association is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2017 Letitia Moore Charitable Trust Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded annually to one or more current college students, who are majoring in art and who have completed at least one year of collegiate courses and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA. This year the Trust awarded two scholarship:

Jessica Robertson of Champlain College, Burlington, VT
